Marble buttermilk and cacao hazelnut waffles, combining two delicious flavors in one breakfast dish. A creative take on classic waffles, topped with cocoyo, fruit, and a cinnamon snickerdoodle syrup drizzle.
First, prepare the buttermilk waffle batter by whisking together 1/4 cup buttermilk pancake mix, cinnamon (to taste), and 1/4 cup water. In a separate bowl, make the cacao hazelnut waffle batter by whisking 1/4 cup quick pancake mix, 1 tablespoon cacao powder, 5 drops hazelnut sweet drops, nutmeg (to taste), and 1/4 cup + 1 tablespoon water. Let both batters sit while your waffle maker is heating. Spray your hot waffle maker with non-stick spray. Ladle 1/4 cup of the buttermilk mix onto two separate parts of the waffle maker, then immediately add 1/4 cup of the cacao mix to the remaining open waffle maker area to create a marbled effect. Close the waffle maker and let it cook until the waffle is crispy. Once done, plate your waffle, top with homemade cocoyo, banana slices, strawberries, a drizzle of cinnamon snickerdoodle syrup (made from 1/2 tbsp melted nut butter and 2 tbsp maple syrup), and mixed seeds. Enjoy!
